Bush saves us all from the dangers of children's health insurance
Remember how Bush was courageously preparing to save us all from "socialized medicine" by vetoing an expansion of children's health insurance? Well, he just did it. What a hero.

Fz studies American politics and political theory (and not much else) at Ursinus. His love for these fields (and anything related to the Supreme Court, for that matter) is exceeded only by his quick wit, his undying hunger for a good game of Scattergories, and his inexplicable affection for Joe Lieberman.
Sarge is to this blog as Lewis Black is to the Daily Show. You won't see him that often, but when you do, it's always worth the wait.
GJ is the Kato Kaelin of this blogging team. Allowed to speak twice a month, he'll entertain you with his criticism of politicians spending money on glass museums and peanut sheds.

HHhmmmm....he's got no problem dropping another 180 billion into next years budget for a war which we are supposedly bringing our troops home, but can't spend half that amount to care for children of the United States. Maybe citizens of the United States should start wearing Burkhas and Turbins, that would make him support our needs.
Our president has no heart and no brain. I'm moving to Canada.
Bush at his best. So worried about keeping the health insurance industry rolling in their millions of dollars that do not go for actual services. But you can't expect an oil "man" to have children's best interests at heart. Way to worried about all of Ameerican's receiving health insurance that he believes this will stop the people from moving this way. "Hillary care" they say, Universal Care we all say.
As someone who actually used the SCHIPS program, I am glad he vetoed. The program needs to be fixed. To start with, we should have had a co-pay when my husbnad started a new job with the $$$ he was making, but they worked some magic and put us through with no co-pays. I wasn't fond of it, griped about it, but nothing was done because if I threw too big of a fit my kids would have lost their coverage and my kids (just like every other child) deserved to have coverage despite what the welfare office was doing. When my husband finally got health insurance through his employer (it was effective immediately, there was no waiting period), they told me to call back to end my benefits in two weeks that way we could keep it for 3 more months. I declined, but I can't help but wonder how many others would have hung up and called back much, much later. Uh, sorry, but there is a serious problem with the program. Until they fix it, I hope they never increase the spending on it. Our new insurance is 20 times better than this ever was. I feel for the people who can't get coverage through their employer, but bending the rules is wasting money that comes out of our paycheck.
I'm sorry, but you guys are just typical of the mindless many of this nation. Do you REALLY think that he veto'd it because he doesn't want children to have health insurance?? Are you joking? Why don't you look at the pork that was ATTACHED to this bill to find out the reasons it was veto'd. If you didn't want the line item veto, this is the result. I love how the democrats are spinning this as "Bush doesn't care about helpless children". If all the democrats cared about was providing children insurance, then why not present the bill without the attached bills? Oh, but thats right, you don't know what bills were attached to this program, or what the problems with the program are. Sigh.. thank goodness not everyone has such simplistic thought processes.
I do not understand this debate over health care, if you look at the heart of it, those against social health care are only looking after the corporations and not the people. Does the cooperation really care about people? Only when it is profitable to them.
